A New Year ahead

The holidays are over and 2014 is here.  We all have resolutions that we want to fulfill, but ultimately I think most of us just want a balanced life.  Everyone has their own definition of balance. So my so-called balanced life is different from the next person.  What I do know, is that having a husband, three children and a business can get a bit hectic.  My balance is being present…..when I am at Wiggles and Giggles doing my thing, I am 100% present with the children.  At home, I do my best to do the same.  As parents, we have a lot of plates spinning at one time,  the trick is not to break any.  Taking time out for you daily is critical in a balanced life.  I have always enjoyed exercising and without it, I feel like my life would be a bit out of sync.  Life is truly what you make of it, and with a good support system, a loving family and friends….you have got it made.

Holidays and Children

Why does every year have to be so stressful around the holidays? Finding that perfect gift can be grueling at times.  Why as Moms are we so hard on ourselves to please our children? It’s a question I ask myself every year and each year I realize that it’s me. Children are simple.  I found a 50 cent balloon punch ball and my daughter had a blast playing with it for hours.  Less is more and as my children get older, I am realizing that it’s not about the presents….it’s really about the time spent together.

The magic and spirit of Christmas is so alive in young children.    They just love singing Jingle Bells, Rudolph, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.  I work every year with children who are not as fortunate as others.  What I realize is having someone who loves you, cares for you, and does the best they can, make a difference in a child’s life.  We are all trying to get through this parenting thing together, and if we can offer our children a special moment at the holidays….whether it be taking them to see Santa, seeing Christmas lights, singing holidays songs…whatever it is, it is special and you did the best for them.  They are young for such a short time, so enjoy the time spent with the angels in your life and try not to worry about getting the perfect gift.  Honestly, the perfect gift is just being with you!!  Happy Holidays.

Songs that I Love

Music has always been a passion of mine.  I have always loved to sing and dance at a very young age.  It is the one thing that can bring you back to a place and time in your life.  At Wiggles and Giggles, I introduce music that I think is catchy, upbeat and has good rhythm.  Carole Stephens (Peterson)  truly influenced my business.  She has some great songs that children gravitate too.  Some of my personal favorites CdStickyBubbleGumare….Shine, Shine, Shine, The Little Fish and Sticky Bubble Gum.  I also love Laurie Berkner’s Monster Boogie song.  I have purchased many CD’s throughout my career, listened to each song and then introduce them to the children.  Some work, some don’t.  Like any job, you have to believe in your work and my work is making sure the children are going to get up and move to the beat.  I highly recommend putting music on instead of the TV.  You will be amazed at how the entire mood will change in your home.  All of these songs are available for download on iTunes.

My 1st Ever Blog Post

It was almost 14 years ago that I decided to launch Wiggles and Giggles and who knew that I would still be doing it today.  Honestly, I could not see myself doing anything else.  I truly love my job and enjoy teaching young children.  The people I have met and the wonderful connections I have made has impacted my life.

I would like to use this blog as an opportunity to share with you what I have learned through teaching music and movement over the years.  I will provide you with activities paired with song selections that I use in my program and other general information. Music and movement programs provide so many benefits and enhances a child’s growth process.  Allowing a child to just listen to music gives them an opportunity to release the creativity from within.  I hope the ideas that I share on this blog enrich your children’s lives.
